This was contained in a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade Director, Press and Public Relations Federal Ministry of Education. The statement revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with relevant agencies, to pursue practical and affordable agreements with ASUU. He stressed that the administration would not sign “unsustainable agreements” but is determined to bring lasting peace to the education sector.

The Ministry also urged calm over recent ASUU protests, emphasizing that the government has been engaging constructively with the union; noting that significant progress had been made on key issues, including the payment and mainstreaming of earned academic allowances, while clarifying that the outstanding 35% wage arrears would be settled when the government begins payments to other public servants.
