According to the board, the release of the results was primarily to enable the affected candidates, as well as their parents and guardians, to know their UTME performance.

JAMB said only underage  candidates who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and maturity would be considered for admission, subject to several stages of assessment and verification.

One of the requirements is a minimum UTME score of 320, alongside at least 80 per cent in the relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination subjects, where applicable. Candidates must also meet the Post-UTME requirements of their chosen institutions and undergo a final assessment by experts before admission can be considered.

The board explained that the rigorous process was designed to distinguish genuinely exceptional underage candidates from those who simply achieved high scores in the UTME. It added that the exceptional admission process was still ongoing, with some stages of assessment and verification yet to be completed.

JAMB said candidates who are awaiting their National Examinations Council results would also be allowed to present them for verification before the final assessment. The board said it would be unreasonable to conclude the process without giving candidates awaiting their NECO results the opportunity to present them for verification.

JAMB said it would announce a date for the final stage of assessment of exceptionally performing underage candidates once the NECO results are released.
