Ondo State 2025 Joint English Language Answers SECTION A (ESSAY)
Answer Only One Question from this section
(1) The Senior Prefect,
Community Secondary School,
Ondo State.
14th July, 2025.
The Principal,
Community Secondary School,
Ondo State.
Dear Sir,
Request for the Revival of Debates, Drama and Excursions
I hope this letter finds you well. As the Senior Prefect, I write to kindly ask for the return of activities such as debates, drama and excursions which used to take place in our school.
These activities were very helpful to students in many ways. Debates help us speak confidently and think fast. Drama teaches teamwork and makes learning fun. Excursions help us see real things we learn in class, like visiting museums, farms or factories.
Many students miss these activities because they make school exciting and help us learn better. They also help shy students to come out of their shell and learn how to relate with others.
Please, we will be happy if these activities can come back. They will help us become better students, not only in books but in real life too.
Thank you, Sir.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Adekoya
(Senior Prefect)

Ekpemu Secondary School,
Ondo State, Nigeria.
14th July, 2025.
Dear Michael,
Welcome to Our School, What You Should Know
I am so happy to hear that you want to join our school. You made a good choice. Let me tell you some things about it.
Our school is very peaceful and clean. The teachers are friendly and always ready to help. We have science labs, computer rooms, a school library and a big football field.
We wear uniforms from Monday to Friday. School starts by 8:00 a.m. and ends around 2:00 p.m. We also have sports and clubs every Wednesday, which makes school fun.
If you stay in the hostel, the school provides food and a safe place to sleep. There are school buses too for students who live nearby.
Once you get here, I will introduce you to everyone and help you settle in. I can’t wait to see you!
Your friend,
Akinwale Johnson

THE RISING “JAPA” TREND AMONG NIGERIAN YOUTHS
These days, many young Nigerians are leaving the country in large numbers. This act is now called “Japa”, which means “to run away”. Young people leave to look for better jobs, education and a better life in other countries.
Why is this happening? Many youths are tired of struggling. There are not enough good jobs and some feel unsafe or not supported. As a result, they believe going abroad is the only way to succeed.
But this is causing a problem. The country is losing its strong and smart young people. Who will help build Nigeria if we all leave?
To stop this, the government should provide more jobs, support small businesses and make schools better. Leaders should give young people hope so they can stay and grow here.
Our country can be great, but we must believe in it and work together to make it better.

SCHOOL NEAR VS. FAR FROM HOME
Good day everyone,
I am here to support the idea that it is better to attend a school near your home than one far away.
Firstly, a school close to home saves time and money. You don’t have to wake up too early or spend much on transport. You also get to school on time.
Secondly, your parents can visit your school easily. They can attend meetings, check your progress and support you.
Thirdly, nearby schools are safer. You won’t have to travel long distances, which can be risky.
Lastly, you can study with friends from your area and grow up with people who understand your background.
In short, a school near your home helps you learn in comfort and with fewer worries. Thank you.

DO NOT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU
There once lived a boy named Samuel. His parents died when he was young. One day, a kind old man saw him hungry by the road and took him home. He gave Samuel food, clothes, and sent him to school.
Years later, Samuel became rich. But he forgot the old man. When the man came to ask for help, Samuel chased him away and said, “I don’t know you.”
Later, Samuel’s business failed. He lost everything. People avoided him. The old man heard what happened and came back to help. He gave Samuel a place to stay and food to eat again.
Samuel cried and begged for forgiveness. He learned never to forget those who helped you when you had nothing.
